While I have had a personal blog on Live Journal for 4 1/2 years, I like the idea of having a separate one dedicated to cooking, food and the new lifestyle Frank & I have adopted since starting Weight Watchers in June of 2008.
Our eating habits were not good at all for the first 15+ years of our marriage. At first because I used WAY too much processed food (I hated to cook, so I used every shortcut I could find). Then when I started to enjoy cooking a few years ago, I started cooking a lot of Paula Deen's & Ina Garten's dishes. Ina's cooking is definitely healthier than Paula's (I think Paula puts butter on her butter), but she doesn't exactly count calories herself, so a lot of her food is pretty high in calories as well.
By the time we'd been on Weight Watchers for a few months, whenever I'd come across a yummy dish or recipe that wasn't exactly points friendly, I'd automatically start trying to figure out how I could tweek it so we could enjoy a lower cal/healthier version of it. We've been on WW for a little over a year now and I'm getting pretty good at Weight Watcherizing non-Weight-Watchers-friendly recipes, if I do say so myself. I'll post some from time to time.
I also take full advantage of several WW cookbooks I own, as well as both Hungry Girl cookbooks, and the WW website recipe search. All together, these tools are serving to enable us to eat very well (tasty AND healthy) while we lose this weight once and for all.
